Lauren Sanchez

Lauren Sánchez is an Emmy-nominated news anchor known for hosting shows such as Good Day L.A. and The View. Sánchez was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attended El Camino College in California. She later transferred to the University of Southern California, where she studied communications and interned at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles.

Sánchez began her career as a desk assistant at KCOP-TV before becoming a reporter at KTVK in Phoenix. She joined Extra as a correspondent in the late 1990s and gained national attention when she became the first host of So You Think You Can Dance in 2005. She also appeared as a guest host on The View and worked as an entertainment reporter for Fox 11’s Good Day L.A. She has also acted, playing the role of a newscaster in films such Fight Club (1999), The Day After Tomorrow (2004) and Ted 2 (2015).

In addition to her broadcasting career, Sánchez is a licensed helicopter pilot and the founder of Black Ops Aviation, an aerial film and production company focused on film and TV projects.

Sánchez was previously married to talent agent Patrick Whitesell, with whom she shares children Evan (born in 2006) and Ella (born in 2008). She also welcomed son Nikko (born in 2001) during a previous relationship with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.

In 2019, she began dating Jeff Bezos, and the couple announced their engagement in 2023. The pair tied the knot in June 2025 in Venice, Italy.
