About

Lauryn Hill is a Grammy-winning singer, actress and a member of The Fugees. Hill grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She was active in music and drama in high school and later enrolled at Columbia University but left after a year to focus on her music career.

Hill rose to fame in the early 1990s as a member of The Fugees, alongside Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel. The group’s 1996 album, The Score, was a massive commercial and critical success, featuring hits like “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.” After the group disbanded, Hill launched her solo career with the release of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. The album featured hits like “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor” and “Everything Is Everything.” She later stepped away from recording music, but has continued to actively perform live.

The singer made her acting debut as a teenager on the soap opera As The World Turns in 1991. She later gave a highly acclaimed performance in the 1993 comedy Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993).

Hill was in a longtime relationship with Rohan Marley, son of Bob Marley, from 1996 to 2009. The couple share five children together: Zion, Selah, Joshua, John and Sarah. She also has a sixth child, Micah, whose father has not been publicly identified.
