Mark Hamill

Mark Hamill is an actor, voice artist and writer best known for portraying Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film franchise. Born in Oakland, California, Hamill was born into a U.S. Navy family and spent much of his youth moving between bases in the United States and abroad. He studied drama at Los Angeles City College before pursuing a career in television and film.

Hamill began his career with guest appearances on shows including The Partridge Family and General Hospital before landing his breakout role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977. He went on to reprise the role in The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983) and decades later in The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Beyond live action, Hamill gained acclaim as a prolific voice actor, most notably as the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and other DC projects. He has also appeared in films including Corvette Summer (1978) and The Big Red One (1980), and on shows such as The Flash, Knightfall and Invincible.

Hamill married Marilou York in 1978, and the couple share three children: Nathan (born in 1979), Griffin (born in 1983) and Chelsea (born in 1988).
