Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald is a Golden Globe-nominated actress. Ringwald began her acting career as a child, and she was first cast in a production of Annie in 1978. The following year she made her TV debut, landing a role on the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes. She reprised her role on the show’s spinoff, The Facts of Life.

The actress made her transition to film after starring in the 1982 film Tempest, and two years later she struck gold with her lead role in the teen comedy Sixteen Candles. Director John Hughes took a liking to Ringwald, and she later starred in his films The Breakfast Club (1985) and Pretty in Pink (1986).

The actress moved to France shortly after, wanting to take a break from the demands of Hollywood. She acted in a few films while abroad before returning stateside. Ringwald was able to pick up where she left off, and in 2008, she landed a recurring role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. This was followed by a stint on Raising Expectations from 2016 to 2019. Ringwald has since appeared in fan favorites such as The Kissing Booth (2018) and has lent her voice to a handful of TV shows including Doc McStuffins. Her later work includes recurring roles on The CW’s hit drama Riverdale and FX’s Feud.

Ringwald has pursued a number of ventures outside of acting. The actress is fluent in French and translated books from French to English. She released a jazz record in 2013 and made her modeling debut at New York Fashion Week in February 2024.

From 1999 to 2002, Ringwald was married to French writer Valéry Lameignère. Following their divorce, Ringwald entered a relationship with writer Panio Gianopoulos, and the two welcomed their daughter Mathilda in 2003. The couple wed in 2007 and Ringwald gave birth to twins Adele and Roman in 2009.
