Penélope Cruz
Penélope Cruz began acting as a teenager, and she appeared in successful Spanish films such as Jamón, Jamón (1992), Belle Époque (1992), Open Your Eyes (1997) and Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health (1997) before transitioning to Hollywood. She made her American film debut in 1998’s The Hi-Lo Country before her critically acclaimed performances in Vanilla Sky (2001), Volver (2006), Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), Nine (2009), Ma Ma (2015), Parallel Mothers (2021) and Ferrari (2023).
Cruz lent her voice to 2009’s G-Force and starred in 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opposite Johnny Depp. She made her television debut in the second season of FX’s anthology series American Crime Story, titled The Assasination of Gianni Versace. Her performance as Donatella Versace earned Cruz nominations for an Emmy, Golden Globe Award and SAG Award, and she won an Academy Award and a BAFTA for her performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
After meeting in 1992 on the set of Jamón, Jamón, Cruz and Javier Bardem teamed up again on Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2007 and sparked a romance. The couple secretly tied the knot in July 2010 and welcomed son Leo and daughter Luna in January 2011 and July 2013, respectively. The couple have also collaborated on Loving Pablo (2017) and Everybody Knows (2018).
