
Rupert Sanders
Rupert Sanders is a British film director best known for helming Snow White and the Huntsman and Ghost in the Shell. Sanders was raised in London, England, and studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He began his career working in graphic design and advertising before transitioning to directing commercials.
Sanders gained early acclaim in the advertising world for his visually stylized work, including award-winning commercials for major brands like Nike and Halo 3. His feature film debut came in 2012 with Snow White and the Huntsman, a box office hit starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. The film’s success positioned him as a rising director in Hollywood.
He went on to direct Ghost in the Shell (2017) starring Scarlett Johansson, and later directed The Crow (2024) featuring Bill Skarsgård. His work is often recognized for its high-concept visuals and stylized direction.
Sanders was married to model and actress Liberty Ross from 2002 to 2014. The two share children Skyla and Tennyson. The marriage ended following his widely publicized affair with Stewart in 2012.
