Sally Field is an Oscar-winning actress known for her work on both the stage and screen. Field attended Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California, where she was a cheerleader. She began pursuing acting full time after graduating.

Field started her career in television with the lead role on Gidget in 1965. She gained further popularity with The Flying Nun, which aired from 1967 to 1970. Though initially typecast in light comedic roles, she transitioned to more serious dramatic work, including the 1976 TV movie Sybil, which won her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

Field’s film career flourished with Norma Rae (1979), which earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. She won a second Oscar for Places in the Heart in 1984. Other major credits include Smokey and the Bandit (1977), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), Forrest Gump (1994), The Amazing Spider-Man series and 80 for Brady (2023). She also starred on Brothers & Sisters, which won her the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.

Field married high school sweetheart Steven Craig in 1968. They welcomed sons Peter and Eli before divorcing in 1975. She later dated Burt Reynolds for several years before marrying producer Alan Greisman in 1984. The pair welcomed son Samuel before divorcing in 1994.
