
Cher
Cher released both her debut solo album, All I Really Want to Do, and the first Sonny & Cher album with then-husband Sonny Bono, Look at Us, in 1965. She went on to release solo albums The Sonny Side of Chér (1966), Chér (1971), Heart of Stone (1989), Closer to the Truth (2013) and Dancing Queen (2018).
In 1971, Cher and Bono were given their own television program called The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, which earned four Emmy Award nominations from 1972 to 1974. Cher won the Golden Globe for Best TV Actress – Comedy or Musical in 1974 for her performance. Cher was given her own show in 1975 called Cher before she and Bono reunited for The Sonny and Cher Show in 1976.
Cher broke into film in 1982 with Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. She appeared in Silkwood the following year alongside Meryl Streep, winning the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture in 1984. Cher went on to star in Mask (1985), Moonstruck (1987), Mermaids (1990), Burlesque (2010) and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018).
Cher filed for divorce from Bono in 1974 after 10 years of marriage, claiming he withheld money from her. In 1975, she won custody over their son, Chaz, who was born in 1969. Four days after finalizing her divorce from Bono, Cher married musician Gregg Allman. She divorced him nine days later due to his heroin and alcohol addiction. Their son, Elijah, was born in 1976.
Following relationships with Gene Simmons, Val Kilmer and more, Cher was first linked to Alexander Edwards in 2022. The pair, who are 40 years apart in age, briefly split later that year but eventually reconciled.
