Stanley Tucci is an Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor widely acclaimed for his performances both on screen and stage. He began to cultivate an interest in the performing arts as a high schooler, and graduated from SUNY Purchase with a bachelor’s degree in acting in 1982.

Tucci began his career as a model before landing a minor role on Broadway in the 1982 production The Queen and the Rebels. His film debut followed three years later, when he played a soldier in Prizzi’s Honor. Tucci has also taken on directing during his time in Hollywood, and the first of his directing credits came with the 1996 drama Big Night in which he played the role of Secondo.

Tucci starred alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in the 2006 classic The Devil Wears Prada, and two years later, he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Lovely Bones. He went on to appear in Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, the Hunger Games franchise and the 2015 Oscar Best Picture winner Spotlight. His 2024 film Conclave was another awards season darling, earning a 2025 Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Tucci has won numerous Emmys, including the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his 2007 appearance in the TV show Monk. In 2021, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special with his series Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy. The CNN series documented his journey tasting different foods throughout the country. Tucci is a known foodie, penning several cookbooks.

In 1995, Tucci married Kathryn Spath. The two had three children: twins Isabel and Nicolo (born in 2000), and daughter Camilla (born in 2004). Spath passed away from breast cancer in 2009. In 2012, he wed Felicity Blunt, and the two welcomed their son, Matteo, in 2015 and their daughter, Emilia, in 2019.

In September 2021, Tucci announced that he privately battled oral cancer three years prior.
