Stephen Moyer

Stephen Moyer is an English actor best known for his role as vampire Bill Compton on the HBO series True Blood. Born in Essex, England, Moyer attended St. Martin’s School and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, graduating in 1990. He began his career in theater, performing with the National Theatre of Wales, the Royal Shakespeare Company and other stage productions before transitioning to screen work.

Moyer’s early television credits include appearances in Conjugal Rites, Highlander: The Series and Midsomer Murders. He gained international recognition in 2008 when he was cast as Bill Compton in True Blood, a role he played for seven seasons and which earned him a Satellite Award. He has also starred in films such as Priest (2011), The Double (2011), The Barrens (2012) and Concussion (2020), and appeared in television series including The Bastard Executioner, Shots Fired and The Gifted. In addition to acting, he has directed episodes of True Blood and other projects.

Moyer married actress Anna Paquin, his True Blood costar, in August 2010. The couple has twins, daughter Poppy (born in 2012) and son Charlie (born in 2012). He also has two older children, Billy (born in 2000) and Lilac (born in 2002), from two previous relationships.
