About

Thomas Ravenel (born Thomas Jonathan Jackson Ravenel) is a former politician and reality TV star best known for appearing on Bravo’s Southern Charm. Ravenel is the son of former U.S. Representative Arthur Ravenel Jr. He attended The Citadel and later earned an MBA from the University of South Carolina.

Ravenel founded the real estate firm Ravenel Development Corporation before entering politics. He served as South Carolina State Treasurer in 2007 but resigned after pleading guilty to a federal drug charge. His public profile rose again in 2014 when he joined the cast of Southern Charm, a reality series centered around Charleston’s elite.

Ravenel starred on Southern Charm for five seasons before exiting the show in 2018, but he continued to appear as a guest cast member until 2020. His story lines often revolved around his legal troubles, personal life and on-and-off relationship with costar Kathryn Dennis.

Ravenel and Dennis share children Kensie (born in 2014) and Saint (born in 2015). In 2020, he welcomed a third child, Jonathan, with ex-girlfriend Heather Mascoe. Ravenel was briefly engaged to Ashley Jacobs, who also appeared on Southern Charm, but the couple split in 2018.
