The Handmaid's Tale

Hulu’s drama The Handmaid’s Tale is inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name. In this dystopian world, fertility rates have plummeted causing women (a.k.a. “handmaids”) to be assigned to elite men and expected to bear their children.

The series stars Elisabeth Moss as June Osborne, Joseph Fiennes as Commander Fred Waterford, Yvonne Strahovski as Serena Joy Waterford, Alexis Bledel as Dr. Emily Malek, Madeline Brewer as Janine Lindo, Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia Clements, Max Minghella as Commander Nick Blaine, Amanda Brugel as Rita Blue and Samira Wiley as Moira Strand.

The Handmaid’s Tale premiered in 2017 and has earned 15 Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama. The series was renewed for its sixth and final season in 2022 and is expected to return in 2024.
