Annie Murphy is an actress and singer born on December 19, 1986 in Ottawa, Ontario. She made her acting debut in the Canadian show Lethal Weapon in 2007. After landing the gig she continued to take on the role as an extra in movies and shows. At the age of 22 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career full-time.

Murphy and her husbands home burned in a fire in 2013, which lead her to want to quit her acting career. Fortunately, the same year she auditioned and received the part of Alexis Rose on the comedy series Schitt’s Creek. In September 2020, she received an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role. Since, Murphy has portrayed roles in other series like Russian Doll and an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror in Joan is Awful.

In 2011, Murphy married lead singer and musician of the bands Hollered and Anyway Gang, Menno Versteeg in 2011.
