
Craig T. Nelson
Craig T. Nelson is a screen and voice actor. He grew up in Washington and was first introduced to acting by a professor at Yakima who encouraged Nelson to further cultivate his interest in the craft He later made the decision to drop out and pursue acting full time.
Nelson’s earlier days in Hollywood consisted of comedy gigs, including a seven episode appearance on The Tim Conway Comedy Hour. He picked up odd jobs as he found his footing in the acting world and eventually landed a few small TV and film roles before his breakout as Steve Freeling in the 1982 blockbuster horror film Poltergeist. He reprised his role in the sequel, Poltergeist II: The Other Side in 1986.
Nelson had a recurring role on the 1984 TV series Call to Glory, and has made appearances in a catalogue of TV movies, including If These Walls Could Talk. In 1989, he signed on to the Emmy-winning sitcom Coach, playing the lead role until the show’s end in 1997. In 2005, he joined the cast of The Family Stone.
The actor has also ventured into voice acting, and most notably voices Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible in Disney’s The Incredibles and Incredibles 2. In 2019, he landed a recurring role on CBS’s Young Sheldon, and he starred in the 2025 film Green and Gold.
Nelson was married to Robin McCarthy from 1965 to 1978, and the two share three children: daughter Tiffany, and sons Christopher and Nelson. In 1987, Nelson remarried to actress Doria Cook-Nelson.
