Dan Levy is a Canadian actor, director, and comedian born on August, 9 1983 in Toronto, Canada. He is best known for his breakout role as Johnny Rose on the Netflix series Schitt’s Creek and his hosting gigs.

Levy’s career began in hosting live events and shows as one of the hosts for the MTV Canada flagship series, MTV Live. He continued on MTV as co-host for the The After Show which had a few spinoffs. He later starred, wrote and produced his own Christmas special for MTV called Daniel Levy’s Holi-Do’s and Dont’s. He also hosted the MTV Movie Awards Red Carpet, The X-Factor Pre Show, and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

His acting career began with his role in the Canadian series Degrassi: Next Generation. Fast forward to 2015, Levy and his father Eugene Levy formed Not a Real Company Productions and wrote and produced the hit-series Schitt’s Creek. Since the premiere the show has won nine Primetime Emmy Awards, two SAG Awards, and more.

In the past, Levy has steered away from sharing his sexual orientation but, in a 2020 interview with Andy Cohen, Levy stated that he is “obviously gay” and he has been out since he was 18 years old.

He cohosted the 2024 Emmys with his dad, Eugene Levy, making them the first father-son duo to emcee the show.
