About

Emma Bunton rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of the iconic girl group the Spice Girls, where she was nicknamed Baby Spice.

The Spice Girls, which ultimately became the best-selling girl group of all time with over 100 million records sold worldwide, included Emma, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm. Their 1996 debut single, “Wannabe,” topped the charts and launched a wave of success that included their multi-platinum albums 1996’s Spice and 1997’s Spice World with hit songs like “Say You’ll Be There,” “2 Become 1” and “Spice Up Your Life.” Although Halliwell left in 1998 and the group went on hiatus after their 2000 album Forever, they reunited for major tours in 2007 and 2019.

After the Spice Girls went on hiatus, Bunton pursued a solo music career, releasing albums such as 2001’s A Girl Like Me and 2004’s Free Me, which included hits like “What Took You So Long?” and “Maybe.” She later ventured into television and radio, becoming a presenter on Heart FM and appearing as a judge on talent shows like Dancing on Ice and The X Factor UK. Bunton currently presents her own show for Heart Radio every Sunday.

Bunton dated lead Damage singer Jade Jones from 1998 to 1999. She moved on with soccer player Rio Ferdinand from 1999 to 2000 before reigniting her relationship with Jones from 2000 to 2002 and again in 2004. Jones and Burton welcomed sons Beau and Tate in 2007 and 2011, respectively. The couple eventually tied the knot in July 2021.
