Janet Jackson

The youngest of 10 children, Janet Jackson made her acting debut on her family’s variety show, The Jacksons, in the ‘70s. She starred on Good Times, A New Kind of Family, Diff’rent Strokes and Fame before releasing her self-titled debut album in 1982. Her third album, Control, quickly shot to No. 1 on the Billboard charts and earned the singer three Grammy nominations.

Subsequent albums Rhythm Nation 1814, Velvet Rope and All For You were enormous successes and solidified Jackson’s status as a music icon. During a performance at the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, Justin Timberlake accidentally exposed Jackson’s breast, leading to major backlash. She was blacklisted from the entertainment industry at the time, but she returned to music in 2008 and launched her own record label in 2015. Jackson is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, and she has won five Grammy Awards. In 2019, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Jackson married James DeBarge in 1984, but the union was annulled the following year. She went on to marry René Elizondo Jr. in 1991. They divorced nine years later. Jackson was involved in a long-term relationship with music exec Jermaine Dupri before moving on with billionaire Wissam Al Mana, whom she married in 2012. The couple split after welcoming son Eissa in 2017.
