Jason Ritter is an Emmy-nominated actor and the son of actors John Ritter and Nancy Morgan. Jason began acting as a child, first appearing in the TV movie The Dreamer of Oz (1990). He attended high school in Santa Monica, California before studying at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He later studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Ritter continued his acting career with small roles in films like Mumford (1999) and Swimfan (2002). He gained attention in 2003 for his role as Kevin Girardi on the CBS drama Joan of Arcadia. His early career also included recurring parts on The Class and in indie films such as Happy Endings (2005) and The Education of Charlie Banks (2007).

He later joined the cast of NBC’s Parenthood as Mark Cyr, a role that earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. Ritter has also done extensive voice acting work, including voicing Dipper Pines on Disney’s Gravity Falls.

Some of his later appearances include Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, A Million Little Things and Raising Dion. His film credits include The Labyrinth (2017) and The Tale (2018). In 2024, he signed on to the legal drama Matlock as Julian Markston.

Ritter began dating actress Melanie Lynskey in 2013. The couple got engaged in 2017 and quietly married in 2020. They share a daughter, whom they welcomed in 2018.
