Jeannie Mai was born on January 4, 1979, in San Jose, California. Mai began her career as a makeup artist, working for celebrities such as Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys. She rose to fame on the makeover show How Do I Look?, which ran from 2004 to 2012. Mai later hosted the daytime talk show The Real from 2012 to 2022. She has also hosted the Miss Universe pageant and was a correspondent for Holey Moley on ABC from 2019 to 2022. In September 2020, Mai competed on the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars, but was forced to exit the show that November after she was diagnosed with an inflammatory condition.

As for her personal life, Mai began dating rapper Jeezy in 2019. The couple tied the knot in 2021 and welcomed a daughter in January 2022. Mai filed for divorce from Jeezy in September 2023.
