About

Kevin Bacon gained fame for his role as Ren McCormak in Footloose (1984). Born the youngest of six children, his mother was a teacher and political activist, and his father was a city planner. Bacon began acting at a young age, attending the Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Arts before moving to New York City at 17 to study theater and pursue a full-time acting career. His early roles included theater productions and soap operas, eventually transitioning to film.

Bacon has appeared in a variety of films, including JFK (1991), A Few Good Men (1992) and Apollo 13 (1995). He made his television debut in the thriller The Following (2013 – 2015) and later starred in City on a Hill (2019 – 2021). His performances have earned him Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

He also has musical talents. In 1995, Bacon formed The Bacon Brothers with his brother, Michael. They debuted with Forosoco in 1997, blending folk, rock, soul and country. The band has released several albums, including Ballad of the Brothers in April 2024. He also contributed to the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special soundtrack.

Bacon met actress Kyra Sedgwick in 1987 while filming Loverboy (1988). They got engaged in December of that year and married in September 1988. The couple has two children: son Travis (born in 1989), a musician, and daughter Sosie (born in 1992), an actress.
