
Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox broke into the entertainment industry on season 1 of I Want to Work for Diddy before launching the makeover series TRANSform Me, becoming the first Black transgender person to produce and star in her own series. Cox also became the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy Award in an acting category when she was nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014 for her role as Sophie Burset in Orange is the New Black. Cox went on to star on The Mindy Project, Doubt and Dear White People, appearing in the films Freak Show (2017) and Promising Young Woman (2020).
