Mamie Gummer is an actress and the daughter of actress Meryl Streep. Her first on screen appearance was in the 1986 comedy Heartburn, where she acted alongside her mother. Gummer graduated from high school in Connecticut before attending Northwestern University, where she studied theater and communications. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in 2005.

Her first adult role came in 2006, when she landed a minor role in the satirical drama The Hoax. The following year, she acted alongside her mother in the film Evening, playing the younger version of Streep’s character. Two years later, she landed the role of Sally Adams in the HBO miniseries John Adams. She made her Broadway debut the same year and was featured in the 2008 Tony Award-nominated production Les liaisons dangereuses.

Gummer has had a handful of recurring television roles, including her role as Nancy Crozier on The Good Wife and Nora in Manhattan. In 2012, she signed on to the CW’s Emily Owens M.D. as the titular role. She is set to appear in the television adaptation of the book We Were Liars, which began filming in 2024.

Gummer married actor Benjamin Walker in 2011, and the couple divorced in 2013. In 2019, she wed producer Mehar Sethi. They have two children together, son Peter (born in 2019), and daughter Mary (born in 2021). It was revealed that Gummer filed for divorce from Sethi in early 2024.
