About

Mark Sanchez is a former NFL quarterback best known for his time with the New York Jets and later transitioning into a career as a football analyst. Born in Long Beach, California, Sanchez was raised in a football-loving family and attended Mission Viejo High School. He was heavily recruited during high school and went on to play college football at the University of Southern California, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Sanchez declared for the NFL Draft after his junior year at USC and was selected fifth overall by the New York Jets in 2009. He made an immediate impact as a rookie, becoming the second rookie quarterback in NFL history to win two playoff games. He helped lead the Jets to the AFC Championship in both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He later played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Washington Commanders (formerly named the Washington Redskins) before retiring in 2019.

Post-retirement, Sanchez began working as a football analyst for ESPN and later joined Fox Sports as a commentator for NFL broadcasts. In 2025, he was involved in an altercation during which he allegedly stabbed a 69-year-old man. Sanchez pleaded not guilty to all charges related to the incident.

Sanchez was briefly romantically linked to Eva Longoria and model Hilary Rhoda. He tied the knot with actress Perry Mattfeld in 2023, and the two welcomed twin girls in 2025. He also has a son, Daniel (born in 2017), whom he welcomed in a previous relationship.
