Milla Jovovich

Milla Jovovich (born Milica Bogdanovna Jovović) is an actress and model. Jovovich moved around as a child and briefly lived in Moscow and London before eventually moving to Los Angeles. She began modeling at age 9 and began taking acting classes a year later.

The model made her film debut in the 1988 drama Two Moon Junction. She went on to land her first lead role in Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991), for which she received high praise. Jovovich later appeared in films such as Kuffs (1992) and Chaplin (1992). After starring in the teen comedy Dazed and Confused (1993), she took a hiatus from acting.

Jovovich made her return to the big screen as Leeloo in the 1997 sci-fi film The Fifth Element, which proved to be a commercial success. Throughout her career, she’s worked with the likes of Spike Lee, Denzel Washington and Ben Stiller. In 2002, she landed the role of Alice in Resident Evil. The films were directed by her future spouse Paul W.S. Anderson, and Jovovich went on to reprise her role throughout the rest of the franchise, which ended in 2017. Some of her other notable movies include Zoolander (2001), Dirty Girl (2010) and Hellboy (2019). In 2025, she worked with her husband again, appearing in the adventure film In the Lost Lands as Gray Alys.

The actress has also ventured into music, releasing two solo albums in the ’90s, and has contributed to a number of movie soundtracks.

In 1992, Jovovich married actor Shawn Andrews; their marriage annulled later that year. She then was wed to director Luc Besson from 1997 to 1999. Following their split, the actress met Anderson after being cast in 2002’s Resident Evil, and the two began dating that same year. They welcomed daughter Ever Anderson (who has starred in Black Widow and Peter Pan and Wendy) in 2007 and tied the knot two years later. The couple also share daughters Daschiel (born in 2015) and Osian (born in 2020).
