Olivier Sarkozy

Olivier Sarkozy is a French banker best known for his work in global finance and his high-profile marriage to actress and designer Mary-Kate Olsen. Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, Sarkozy is the half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. He spent his childhood in several countries, including Zambia and Egypt, before attending boarding school in the U.K. He later earned a master’s degree in medieval history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Sarkozy began his finance career at Dillon, Read & Co. in the early 1990s. He later joined Credit Suisse First Boston and in 2003 became global co-head of the financial institutions group at UBS Investment Bank. Sarkozy rose to further prominence when he joined The Carlyle Group in 2008 as managing director and head of global financial services. He left the firm in 2016 and has maintained a lower public profile since.

Sarkozy was first married to Charlotte Bernard, with whom he welcomed children Julien and Margot before their divorce in 2011. He began dating Olsen in 2012, and they married in 2015. Olsen filed for divorce in 2020, and the split was finalized in 2021.
