Rita Wilson

Rita Wilson (born Margarita Ibrahimoff) is an actress, producer and singer. Wilson spent her childhood in Los Angeles and attended Hollywood High School. She later studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Wilson began her acting career with a guest role on The Brady Bunch in 1972. She went on to appear on several TV series throughout the ’80s, including Happy Days, Three’s Company and Bosom Buddies. Her breakthrough came with supporting roles in films like Volunteers (1985) and Sleepless in Seattle (1993), which cemented her as a familiar face in romantic comedies. She later landed roles in films such as Runaway Bride (1999) and Dawn Patrol (2014). Some of her later work includes appearances on shows such as The Good Wife, Full Circle and HBO’s Girls. In 2023, she acted alongside husband Tom Hanks in the film Asteroid City.

The actress has worked as a producer, most notably on My Big Fat Greek Wedding and its sequels. She has also pursued a music career and released her debut album AM/FM in May 2012.

Wilson tied the knot with Hanks in 1988. They share two sons, Chester Hanks (born in 1990) and Truman Hanks (born in 1995). She is also stepmother to Hanks’ children from his first marriage, Colin Hanks (born in 1977) and Elizabeth Hanks (born in 1982).
