Ruby Rose

Ruby Rose (born Ruby Rose Langenheim) is an Australian model, TV host and actress. Raised in Melbourne by a single mother, Rose spent parts of her childhood moving around Australia before returning to the Victorian capital. She went on to attend University High School and Footscray City College in Melbourne.

Rose’s career began in modeling in 2002 and television hosting on MTV Australia from 2007 to 2011. She worked on shows such as Australia’s Next Top Model before her international breakout came in 2015 when she joined the cast of Orange Is the New Black. Her role as Stella Carlin solidified her mainstream success, and she remained on the show until 2016.

Rose later found success on the big screen, starring in films such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017), John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) and The Meg (2018). In 2019, she began starring as Kate Kane / Batwoman in the CW series Batwoman, marking one of the first times an openly lesbian lead superhero appeared on television. She also reprised the role throughout the Arrowverse on shows like The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl. Some of her later projects include Taurus (2022), The Collective (2023) and Dirty Angels (2024).

Rose has been open about her identity as lesbian and gender fluid. She briefly dated The Veronicas singer Jessica Origliasso in the late 2000s before the two broke up. She was later engaged to designer Phoebe Dahl from 2014 to 2015. The following year, she rekindled her relationship with Origliasso until 2018.
