Sean Spicer is a political aide, television personality and author best known for serving as White House Press Secretary under President Donald Trump and for competing on Dancing With the Stars. Spicer was raised in Rhode Island and graduated from Connecticut College with a bachelor’s degree before receiving a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.

Spicer began his political career in the late 1990s, working for several Republican congressional campaigns and committees. He eventually joined the Republican National Committee, rising to become its communications director and chief strategist. In December 2016, he was named White House Press Secretary, officially taking the role in January 2017. He resigned from the role in July 2017.

Following his White House tenure, Spicer appeared on the reality competition Dancing With the Stars in 2019, finishing in sixth place with partner Lindsay Arnold. He has since worked as a political commentator and author, publishing his debut memoir, The Briefing: Politics, the Press, and the President, in 2018. He also hosted the political talk show Spicer & Co. on Newsmax TV from 2020 until 2023.

Spicer married Rebecca Miller in 2004, and the couple share two children.
