Steven Tyler
The Aerosmith frontman is best known for his scarf-covered mics, aerobic stage performances and wildly colorful outfits.
Steven Tyler and the rest of Boston-based rock band Aerosmith started rocking our world in 1973 with their signature song “Dream On.” They become the top American hard-rock band of the mid-Seventies, but they were almost ruined by drugs problems. The group scored a major hit in the 80s with a remake of their 1975 hit “Walk This Way,” featuring Run DMC — one of the first fusions of rock and rap.
Tyler went into rehab in 1986 and stayed sober for 20 years. He then had a relapse with pain pills in the late 2000s and received treatment for it in 2009.
He is one of Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Singers and was inducted into the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame with Aerosmith in 2001. 2001 was also the year Aerosmith performed at the Super Bowl XXXV Halftime Show with Britney Spears, NSync, Nelly, and Mary J. Blige.
The rocker had a short relationship with model Bebe Buell, who is the mother of his actress daughter Liv Tyler. Tyler then married Cyrinde Foxe in 1978 and they had a daughter, Mia, that same year. In 1987 they divorced and the following year he married Teresa Barrick, a clothing designer. The couple was married for eight years and have two children together.
In September 2010, Tyler was confirmed as one of the judges on the tenth season of Fox’s reality hit American Idol, which premiered in January 2011. He served as a judge for two seasons.
