Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi Jr.) is an American rock singer, songwriter and actor best known as the frontman of the band Bon Jovi. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Bon Jovi attended St. Joseph High School and then Sayreville War Memorial High School. Throughout his childhood, he was a member of numerous bands, including the Rest and Atlantic City Expressway.

His early career featured playing in local bands and recording the single “Runaway” in 1982, which led to the formation of Bon Jovi the following year. The band’s third album, Slippery When Wet (1986), propelled them to global fame with hits like “You Give Love a Bad Name” and “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

His notable later works with the group include New Jersey (1988), Crush (2000), The Circle (2009) and Burning Bridges (2015). In 1990, the singer released the solo album Blaze of Glory (1990) and founded his own record label, Jambco Records, the following year. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009. He has also ventured into acting and was featured in projects such as Young Guns II (1990), Cry Wolf (2005) and U-571 (2000).

In 1989, he married high-school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley in 1989. They share children Stephanie (born in 1993), Jesse (born in 1995), Jake (born in 2002) and Romeo (born in 2004). He is father-in-law to actress Millie Bobby Brown and a grandfather to her and Jake’s daughter.
