Tyler James Williams is an actor best known for his role as Chris in the Chris Rock–inspired comedy series Everybody Hates Chris (2005 to 2009), for which he became the youngest actor to win an NAACP Award at age 14. He began his career in 2000, voicing Bill in the children’s show Little Bill and appearing on Sesame Street until 2005. He made guest appearances in shows like Two for the Money, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Hi-Jinks and True Jackson VP.

In 2012, Williams played Owen in the NBC series Go On alongside Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and John Cho. That same year, he starred as Cyrus in Disney’s Let It Shine, featuring on nine songs from the film’s soundtrack. He later appeared in Lab Rats on Disney XD, portraying the future version of his costar and younger brother Tyrel Jackson Williams’ character.

In December 2021, Williams was cast as Gregory in NBC’s Abbott Elementary, for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Televison Series/Musical-Comedy or Drama. The show won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

In 2014, Williams starred as Carson Rhodes in the Netflix series Dear White People and played Noah on The Walking Dead.

Williams dated Karina Pasian until 2015 and Anastasia Baranova in 2017. He is currently single.
