Alexander Skarsgard

Alexander Skarsgård is an Emmy-winning Swedish actor best known for his roles in True Blood, Big Little Lies and The Northman. Son of actor Stellan Skarsgård, Alexander spent his childhood in Sweden and was raised alongside his five younger siblings, including actor Bill Skarsgård. He began acting at age 7 but stepped away from the spotlight as a teenager. After completing military service in Sweden, he studied at Leeds Metropolitan University in England and later attended Marymount Manhattan College in New York City to study theater.

Alexander returned to acting in the early 2000s, appearing in Swedish film and television before gaining international attention with a role in Zoolander in 2001. His breakthrough came in 2008 when he was cast as vampire Eric Northman on HBO’s True Blood, which ran for seven seasons.

He followed up with critically acclaimed performances in Generation Kill, Melancholia (2011) and The Diary of a Teenage Girl (2015). In 2017, he landed the role of Perry Wright on the drama Big Little Lies, for which he was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series. He also won a Golden Globe and SAG Award for his role.

The actor later went on to appear on shows such as The Stand, Succession and What We Do in the Shadows. He also boasts credits in films such as The Legend of Tarzan (2016), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and Lee (2023).

Alexander has been linked to several celebrities over the years, including Amanda Seyfried and Alexa Chung. In 2022, his relationship with Swedish actress Tuva Novotny was confirmed. The couple welcomed their first child together that same year.
