Ansel Elgort

Ansel Elgort is an actor and musician best known for his breakout roles in The Fault in Our Stars and the Divergent franchise. Born and raised in New York City, Ansel is the son of fashion photographer Arthur Elgort and opera director Grethe Barrett Holby. He grew up immersed in the arts from an early age and attended Stagedoor Manor summer camp, where he studied acting. He also trained briefly at the American Ballet School.

Ansel made his film debut in the 2013 remake of Carrie before landing his breakout role as Caleb Prior in 2014’s Divergent opposite Shailene Woodley. That same year, he starred as Augustus Waters in the film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars (2014), which cemented his status as a young Hollywood lead. He later expanded into music, releasing singles including “Home Alone” and performing as DJ Ansølo.

Among his notable projects are Baby Driver (2017), The Goldfinch (2019) and Steven Spielberg’s 2021 adaptation of West Side Story, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. In 2022, he joined the cast of the HBO Max series Tokyo Vice as Jack Adelstein.

Ansel was in a relationship with high school sweetheart Violetta Komyshan until 2022. In 2026, he revealed he had welcomed a son via Instagram. He has not revealed the identity of his son’s mother.
