About

Ben Platt is an American actor who rose to fame after starring as the titular character in Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen and as Benji in the Pitch Perfect movies.

Ben is the son of noted Hollywood producer Marc Platt — one of five children he has with his wife, Julie Platt. After pursuing theater at school and at summer camp with best friend (and fellow actor) Beanie Feldstein, Ben began his professional career in 2012 when he was cast in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon.

Ben landed the role of Evan Hansen in the off-Broadway production of Dear Evan Hansen in 2015. After the show transferred to the Great White Way, Ben earned a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. At the age of 23, Ben became the youngest man to win the honor. He also earned both an Emmy and a Grammy for the same role. He went on to reprise his role in the 2021 film adaptation.

In addition, Ben starred in The Politician, Theater Camp, The People We Hate at Weddings and the upcoming film adaptation of Merrily We Roll Along alongside Feldstein and Paul Mescal.

Ben is also a singer, releasing his debut album, Sing to Me Instead, in 2019. He later dropped Reverie and Honeymind in 2021 and 2024, respectively.

Ben is openly gay and started dating actor Noah Galvin, who coincidentally also played Evan Hansen on Broadway, in 2020. They got married in September 2024.
