About

Carey Mulligan is an Oscar-nominated British actress best known for her role in Pride & Prejudice. Mulligan exhibited a passion for acting at a young age and was heavily involved in her high school theater program. Her persistence as a teenager led to her landing her breakout role as Kitty Bennett.

After the success of Pride & Prejudice, Mulligan earned rave reviews for her work on the British mini-series Bleak House and the TV show The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard. She became a household name in 2009 when she scored an Oscar nomination for her performance in An Education.

The following year, Mulligan starred in the movie adaptation of Never Let Me Go. In 2011, she starred in the critically acclaimed films Drive and Shame, and both roles helped to establish Mulligan as a well rounded actress. Returning to her theater origins, the actress appeared in the off-Broadway production of Through a Glass, Darkly the same year.

Mulligan’s later works include The Great Gatsby (2013), The Dig (2021) and She Said (2022). She landed a minor role in the 2023 box-office hit Saltburn and was announced as the lead of The Ballad of Wallis Island set to release in March 2025.

Mulligan dated her Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps costar Shia LaBeouf from 2009 to 2010. Two years after the pair called it quits, the actress married Mumford & Sons singer Marcus Mumford. Mulligan gave birth to daughter Evelyn in 2015 and son Wilfred in 2017. The couple welcomed their third child in 2023.
