Caterina Scorsone

Caterina Scorsone is a Canadian actress best known for playing Dr. Amelia Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Scorsone began acting at a young age and attended Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts before studying literary studies and philosophy at the University of Toronto’s Trinity College.

Scorsone made her television debut on the Canadian children’s show Mr. Dressup and appeared in several TV films throughout the ’90s. She gained national attention in Canada with her performance as Michelle Parker on Power Play and had supporting roles in Crash, 1-800-Missing and Edge of Darkness (2010). Her U.S. breakthrough came in 2010 when she joined Private Practice as Dr. Amelia Shepherd, reprising the role on Grey’s Anatomy starting in 2014. In addition to her long-running role on Grey’s Anatomy, Scorsone has appeared in The Third Miracle (1999), The November Man (2014) and Alice.

Scorsone married musician Rob Giles in 2009. The couple share daughters Eliza, Paloma and Arwen. The twosome finalized their divorce in 2020.
