Chad Michael Murray

Chad Michael Murray is an American actor, writer and former model best known for his roles on One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek and Riverdale. Murray spent his childhood in Buffalo, New York, where he played football and developed a love of literature.

Murray moved to Los Angeles in 1999 to pursue a career in entertainment. He got his start modeling for brands like Skechers, Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci and, soon after, began landing acting roles on television. He played Tristan DuGray on Gilmore Girls in its inaugural season, later guest starring on Dawson’s Creek as Charlie Todd. He went on to land his breakout role as Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill in 2003. In 2019, he made an appearance on The CW’s hit show Riverdale as Edgar Evernever.

On the big screen, Murray has appeared in various films, including Freaky Friday (2003), A Cinderella Story (2004), Colors of Love (2021) and The Merry Gentlemen (2024). In 2025, he reprised his role as Jake in Disney’s Freakier Friday (2025).

Murray married actress Sophia Bush in April 2005, but the two separated later that year and finalized their divorce in 2006. He was then engaged to Kenzie Dalton from 2006 until their split in 2013. He later briefly dated Nicky Whelan from 2013 to 2014. In 2014, he began dating actress Sarah Roemer, and the two confirmed they got married in 2015. They share three children, a son, born in 2015, and two daughters, born in 2017 and 2023.
