
Jamie Lee Curtis
The award winning actress and author, Jamie Lee Curtis, was born in Santa Monica, California, to actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. After her parents divorced in 1962, Curtis was raised by her mother and stepfather, Robert Brandt. The Freaky Friday actress attended the University of the Pacific, but dropped out after one semester to pursue an acting career.
Curtis’ film debut came in 1978’s Halloween, which was a major success and earned her the title of “scream queen.” She went on to reprise her role of Laurie in seven more Halloween sequels. The Fog star has had several notable roles in films of all genres including 1983’s Trading Places, 1988’s A Fish Called Wanda, 1985’s Perfect, 1994’s True Lies, 2001’s Freaky Friday, 2004’s Christmas with the Kranks, 2010’s You Again and 2019’s Knives Out. For her performance in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, Curtis received her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
The California native has also had a successful television career on shows such as Anything But Love, which premiered in 1989 and earned her a Golden Globe. She also starred in 1998’s Nicholas Gift, which earned her an Emmy nomination and seasons 1 and 2 of Ryan Murphy Scream Queens in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Aside from acting, Curtis has also written numerous children’s books including 1998’s Today I Feel Silly, and Other Moods That Make My Day which made the New York Times’ best-seller list. She launched her podcast series “Letters From Camp” in 2020 and “Good Friend with Jamie Lee Curtis” in 2021.
The My Brave Year of Firsts author married actor Christopher Guest in 1984 and the couple share two adopted daughters – Annie and Ruby, born in 1986 and 1996, respectively. Curtis is also godmother to Jake Gyllenhaal.
