About

Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, better known as Chance the Rapper, is a hip-hop artist, singer-songwriter and record producer. He developed an early interest in music, influenced by artists like Michael Jackson and Kanye West. During high school, he began rapping and recording music, funding his projects with earnings from an afterschool job. In 2012, during a 10-day suspension from high school, he recorded and released his debut mixtape, 10 Day, which received local attention.

In 2013, Chance released his second mixtape, Acid Rap, which received critical acclaim. His third mixtape, Coloring Book (2016), marked a historic moment in the music industry as the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy Award. The mixtapes peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and earned him three Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance for the single “No Problem” and Best Rap Album.

Chance married Kirsten Corley in 2019 after six years of dating. They share two daughters: Kensli (born in 2015) and Marli (born in 2019). In April 2024, Chance and Corley announced their decision to separate. They both stated that they arrived at the decision amicably and emphasized their commitment to coparenting. Corley officially filed for divorce the following December.
