David Foster

David Foster was the keyboardist for the pop group Skylark before focusing on composing and producing. He has won 16 Grammy Awards from 47 nominations, taking home trophies for songs including “Hard Habit to Break” performed by Chicago, “Somewhere” performed by Barbra Streisand, “I Will Always Love You” performed by Whitney Houston and “When I Fall in Love” performed by Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole.

Foster also composed scores for films including St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) and The Secret of My Success (1987), and he composed 2023’s Boop! The Musical. He appeared on Popstars in 2001 and The Princes of Malibu in 2005 with his third wife, Linda Thompson. In 2006, Foster appeared as a guest mentor on American Idol and was a judge on Celebrity Duets. He competed on season 6 of The Masked Singer with wife Katharine McPhee.

Foster has been married five times and is the father of six children. His daughter Allison was born in 1970 when Foster was 20 years old. Allison was put up for adoption but reconnected with her dad later in life. Foster welcomed daughter Amy in 1973 with singer B.J. Cook, to whom he was married from 1972 to 1981. He was married to his second wife, Rebecca Dyer, from 1982 to 1986. They share three daughters: Sara, Erin and Jordan. He was married to Thompson from 1991 to 2005, becoming stepfather to her sons with Caitlyn Jenner, Brandon and Brody Jenner. Foster was married to model Yolanda Hadid and was stepfather to her kids Gigi, Bella and Anwar. Foster married McPhee in 2019, welcoming son Rennie in 2021.
