Dr. Oz (born Mehmet Cengiz Oz) is a surgeon and TV personality best known for hosting The Dr. Oz Show. Oz spent his childhood in Delaware and went on to attend Harvard University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in biology in 1982. He later attended the University of Pennsylvania for his doctorate studies.

Post-graduation, Oz moved to New York City for a medical residency, and he later began receiving media attention for successfully performing various surgeries. Throughout his time in the medical field, he has taught lectures at Columbia University and helped to progress cardiology technology.

The doctor made his on screen debut in 2003 with his appearance on Second Opinion with Dr. Oz. After Oprah Winfrey was featured as a guest on the show, he was invited to host a health segment on The Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2009, he began hosting his own show titled The Dr. Oz Show. He has won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative various times for his role as host on the show. He remained with the show until its end in 2022.

The TV personality has also been politically active and ran for the United States Senate in 2022.

He wed author Lisa Oz in 1985 and the pair share four children: Daphne Oz, Arabella, Zoe and Oliver.
