Drea de Matteo

Drea de Matteo (born Andrea Donna de Matteo) is an Emmy-winning actress best known for her role as Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos. De Matteo was born and raised in Queens, New York, where her mother, playwright Donna de Matteo, inspired her interest in acting. She studied at Loyola School in Manhattan before attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she initially pursued directing before shifting her focus to acting.

De Matteo landed her breakout role as Adriana La Cerva on HBO’s The Sopranos in 1999. Her portrayal earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2004. She went on to star as Gina Tribbiani on Joey and later appeared as Wendy Case on FX’s Sons of Anarchy. She expanded her footprint in film with appearances in movies like Lake City (2008), Free Ride (2013), Dark Places (2015), Queen of Manhattan (2022) and Nonnas (2025).

De Matteo was previously engaged to musician Shooter Jennings, and the former couple share daughter Alabama Gypsyrose and son Waylon Albert. She was later briefly engaged to Michael Devin before moving on with Robby Staebler.
