Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding is a Grammy-nominated English singer-songwriter. Goulding left the University of Kent after two years when she was discovered by a major U.K. record executive during a school talent showcase. The singer signed her first record deal in 2009 and released her debut single “Under the Sheets” the same year.

Goulding’s first studio album Lights (2010) was released one month after she was awarded the Critics’ Choice at the BRIT Awards. Lights went on to chart at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, solidifying Goulding’s newfound status in the mainstream. The following year, Goulding ruled the U.S. radio with her song “Lights” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200.

Over the following years, she released radio hits such as “Burn” and “I Need Your Love.” Goulding has also contributed to movie soundtracks. Her single “Love Me Like You Do” was released in support of the film Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) and earned the singer her first-ever Grammy nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Throughout her career, Goulding has collaborated with numerous artists and has embarked on five headliner tours of her own. After releasing her album Delirium (2015), Goulding announced her hiatus from music to focus on her mental health. She fully returned to the industry in 2020 with Brightest Blue. Three years later, Goulding earned her second Grammy nomination for Best Pop Dance Recording with the song “Miracle” featuring Calvin Harris.

Goulding has previously been in relationships with Skrillex (2011-2012), Niall Horan (2013) and McFly’s Dougie Poynter (2014-2016). In 2018, she announced her engagement to Casper Jopling, and the couple tied the knot the following year. Goulding gave birth to son Arthur in April 2021. She and Jopling made their split public in February 2024.
