Ioan Gruffudd

Ioan Gruffudd is a Welsh actor best known for playing Reed Richards in the original Fantastic Four films and for his roles in Titanic, Horatio Hornblower and Liar. Gruffudd grew up in Aberdare, Wales, and began acting as a teenager. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, graduating in the mid-1990s before launching his professional career.

Gruffudd gained early attention for his role as Fifth Officer Harold Lowe in Titanic (1997) and as the title character in the Horatio Hornblower TV films. His breakout into Hollywood came with Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) as Reed Richards. He also starred in W. (2008) and San Andreas (2015) and led the TV shows Forever (2014-2015) and Liar (2017-2020).

The actor has also done voice work for projects like Family Guy, American Dad and Ben 10: Alien Force.

In 2024, he appeared in the CBS legal drama Elsbeth as Angus Doyle.

Gruffudd married actress Alice Evans in 2007 after meeting on the set of 102 Dalmatians. They welcomed daughters Ella (born in 2009) and Elsie (born in 2013) before separating in 2021. They finalized their divorce in 2023. Gruffudd went public with Bianca Wallace in 2021. The pair confirmed their engagement in 2024 and wed the following year. Gruffudd and Wallace announced in June 2025 that they were expecting their first baby together, his third.
