Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson is an Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker. Born in Neptune City, New Jersey, Nicholson was raised in nearby Manasquan by his grandparents, whom he believed were his parents for much of his early life. He attended Manasquan High School and moved to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue opportunities in the entertainment industry.

Nicholson began his career working behind the scenes in animation before landing small acting roles in low-budget films. His breakthrough came in 1969 with Easy Rider, for which he earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor and established him as a leading figure in Hollywood. Throughout the 1970s, he built a reputation for intense and unconventional performances, acting in films including Five Easy Pieces (1970), Chinatown (1974) and The Last Tycoon (1976).

Over the decades, Nicholson starred in a string of critically acclaimed films, including The Shining (1980), Batman (1989) and A Few Good Men (1992). He has won three Academy Awards, including two Best Actor awards for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) and As Good As It Gets (1997). Some of his later projects include Something’s Gotta Give (2003), The Departed (2006), The Bucket List (2007) and How Do You Know (2010).

Nicholson was married to Sandra Knight from 1962 to 1968. He later had relationships with stars including Susan Anspach and Anjelica Huston. He is the father of six children: Jennifer Nicholson (born in 1963), Caleb Goddard (born in 1970), Honey Hollman (born in 1981), Lorraine Nicholson (born in 1990), Ray Nicholson (born in 1992) and Tessa Gourin (born in 1994).
