Joel McHale

Joel McHale is an actor and comedian known for his role in The Bear, hosting House of Villains and starring in Animal Control. He studied history at the University of Washington, where he was also a member of the championship football team. Later, he earned a masters of fine arts degree from the University of Washington’s Actor Training Program.

After college, McHale moved to Los Angeles, landing roles in Will & Grace (1998) and Oliver Beene (2003). In 2004, he appeared in Spider-Man 2, The Onion Movie and Lords of Dogtown. His career took off with the sitcom Community, which debuted in 2009. He also starred in The Informant (2009) alongside Matt Damon, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World (2011) and Ted (2012). In 2023, McHale began starring in Animal Control and joined the cast of The Bear as Chef David Fields.

McHale ventured into reality TV in 2004, writing, producing and starring in The Soup on E!, which aired for 12 seasons until 2015. He later hosted the game show Card Sharks in 2019 and became the host of the competition series House of Villains in 2023.

McHale has been married to Sarah Williams since July 1996, and they have two sons, Edward Roy (born in 2005) and Isaac Hayden (born in 2008).
