About

Johnny Weir is a world renowned figure skater. Weir was raised in Quarryville, Pennsylvania, and started out as an equestrian before taking interest in figure skating at the age of 11. After recognizing his innate talent in the sport, Weir’s family moved to New Jersey so he could pursue better coaching.

The skater quickly progressed and made a name for himself on the international stage by winning the 2001 World Junior Championships. He went on to win three consecutive U.S. Figure Skating Championships, and he participated in the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics. In 2010, he hosted his own show called Be Good Johnny Weir, which documented his participation in the 2010 Winter Olympics.

While he no longer competes after his 2013 retirement, Weir has emerged as a principal figure skating analyst for NBC Sports alongside close friend and colleague Tara Lipinski.

Weir was inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2021. He has since made appearances in a handful of television and movie productions, often playing himself on shows such as Family Guy, Night Court, and Dancing With the Stars.

In 2011, Weir authored an autobiography entitled Welcome to My World, in which he came out as gay. That December, he married lawyer Victor Voronov, and the pair filed for divorce in 2014.
