
Kristen Wiig
Kristen Wiig is an actress, comedian and writer best known for her work on Saturday Night Live and her success in film comedies. Wiig spent her early childhood in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and later in Rochester, New York. She attended Brighton High School before enrolling at the University of Arizona, where she studied art. After a run in with a psychic, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.
After making a name for herself as a member of the comedy troupe The Groundlings, Wiig landed small film roles and television appearances before joining the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2005. She remained on the show until 2012, becoming one of its most prominent performers known for recurring characters and celebrity impressions. Her time on SNL earned her multiple Emmy nominations, including the nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for four consecutive years from 2009 to 2012.
In 2011, Wiig cowrote and starred in Bridesmaids, which became a commercial success and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. She went on to star in films including Girl Most Likely (2012), The Skeleton Twins (2014), Ghostbusters (2016), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021). Wiig has also voiced characters in animated films such as Despicable Me (2010), How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and The Martian (2015), and has led television series including Bless the Harts and Palm Royale.
Wiig was previously married to actor Hayes Hargrove from 2005 to 2009. She dated drummer Fabrizio Moretti before moving on with actor and writer Avi Rothman in 2019. Wiig confirmed their marriage in 2020, and the two welcomed twins Shiloh and Luna via surrogate that same year.
