LeAnn Rimes
LeAnn Rimes (born Margaret LeAnn Rimes) is a Grammy-winning country and pop singer known for her multi-platinum albums and crossover success in the early 2000s. Rimes was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and raised in Texas, where she began performing in local talent shows as a child. She appeared on Star Search at 8 and decided to focus on her singing career shortly after.
Rimes shot to fame in 1996 at age 13 with the release of Blue, earning comparisons to Patsy Cline. The album went multi-platinum and won her two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, making her the youngest individual ever to win a Grammy. Her follow-up albums, including You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs (1997) and Sittin’ on Top of the World (1998), cemented her place in both the country and pop scenes.
Outside of music, Rimes starred in films including Coyote Ugly (2000) and Northern Lights (2009). Rimes has released over a dozen studio albums and won multiple awards, including four ACM Awards and an American Music Award.
Rimes married dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002. The couple divorced in 2010 after she began a relationship with actor Eddie Cibrian the previous year, whom she met while filming Northern Lights. Rimes and Cibrian married in 2011. She is stepmother to Cibrian’s two sons, Mason (born in 2003) and Jake (born in 2007), from his previous marriage.
