Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender is an Oscar-nominated actor. Fassbender attended school in Ireland and decided to pursue acting after participating in a school production. He moved to London shortly after graduating high school to study at the Drama Centre London, but he dropped out to tour with a production of Three Sisters.

The actor scored his first onscreen roles in 2001 on the series Band of Brothers and Hearts and Bones. He continued to primarily star in television roles, appearing on shows such as William and Mary and Murphy’s Law. From 2004 to 2005, he played Azazeal on the fantasy horror show Hex.

In 2006, Fassbender began to transition to more film roles, appearing in movies such as 300 (2006), Blood Creek (2009) and Jonah Hex (2010). He received high praise for his starring role in the 2011 film Shame, earning him the first Golden Globe nomination of his career for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama. He later earned both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his performance in 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Steve Jobs (2015). The actor appeared in the X-Men franchise as a young Magneto, and in 2024, he made his return to television on Showtime’s political drama The Agency.

In 2014, Fassbender began dating actress Alicia Vikander, with whom he later costarred in The Light Between Oceans (2016) and Hope (2025). They wed in 2017 and went on to welcome their first son in 2021 and their second in 2024.
